Sometimes the heads will roll, even between life partners. However, at the end of the day, through thick and thin you know they will always be there for you. Similarly, this Westcoast style Pale Ale, with its hop forward, medium-bodied character will never disappoint.

A golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light buttery notes, OK. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with light buttery notes, a tad unpleasant. On tap at brewery.

Poured from 355mL can. Clear orangey gold with off white head. Light biscuit malt with mild pine hops and just a tinge of a metallic note.

Soft sweet hops on the nose, leaning towards lager-ish and very little malt character. Clear copper body and minimal foam. Flavour is big chewy sweet hops and good malt presence. Full on the mouth. A smoother pale ale than usual and kind of lager-y.

Can - Light earthy malts and some caramel. Clear gold with a decent off white head. Light grains and bitterness with a reasonably clean finish. Pretty basic and hops don’t lent to ’west coast’.

Touch of haze. Amber. Thin head. Bit earthy nose with a touch of orange rind on the nose. Not especially complex but a nice citrus fruitiness and a mellow sweet malt that carries just a touch of sugar.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Golden color, just hazy. Lean Pale Ale, with delicate malts, a touch of dry caramel, and moderately resiny hops; balanced, refreshing.
Nice.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out light piney hops and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour is very fresh, with a very nice piney hops character, some citrus and toasted biscuity malt character. Balanced well, with a solid punch. Nicely constructed and easy to drink. Good stuff.
