Twin Sails Brewing in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦

IPA - Triple New England / Hazy Regular
Score
7.11
ABV: 10.3% IBU: - Ticks: 9
This triple IPA is a beast clocking in at 10.3% ABV. It is brewed with Pilsner, Oats and Wheat then generously hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Columbus. Lots of over ripe citrus, melon and pine flavours dominate this IPA making it dangerously crushable for an over 10% beer.

Poured from the tap. Cloudy orangey yellow with white head. Lots of dank tropical hops and pine with a mild alcohol finish (not nearly as much of a kick as you’d expect), but pilsner malt side of things is a bit lacklustre to fill the beer out.

The aroma is big juicy fruity hops. Has an okay cloudy yellow body with a tiny bit of foam. Flavour is good chewy sweet hops with lots of candy and sugar. Mouthfeel is full enough but there's a lot of lingering sugar on the tongue. The abv is well hidden so it's good in that way but definitely on the sweet side.

Can thanks to Ferris. Pours a cloudy yellow with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is pine and citrus. Medium body, citrus, pineapple, earth, nice bitterness, boozy finish, very good.

473mL can, pours a filthy opaque peachy orangey yellow with a small white head - doesn't look nice at all. Flavour brings out lots of overripe stone fruits, some tropical notes, resinous hops and muddy yeast. Flavour is dirty, with lots of overripe fruits, lots of yeast, some resinous hops, and candied sweetness. Yeasty, light-to-moderately sweet, with the booze well-hidden. Very messy and too yeasty. It's solid, but not one of Twin Sails' better beers.

Tall can from the brewery (thx, Alex!). Pours a slightly dirty murky golden with a white head. Aroma is crazy after opening - lots of tropical fruits, after it a little bit fades. Taste is similar with dank tropical fruits and raisins. This one is definitely a winner, despite it is a little bit boozier than I would prefer. But it is 10.3%, right? :)

Draught, Alibi. Cloudy, not much head. Quite pale. Aroma is yeasty with some fruity lupulin powder but all-round indistinct hops. Moderate bitterness. Powdery taste. Firm shot if alcohol in the finish but mellow pale malts. Yeah, it’s ok but doesn’t rise above that.

Draft - Citrus and pulpy notes. Murky yellow with a small white head. Citrus and bright peel with a light bitterness. Nice.

Checkin with a few more days to settle from the first tapping. Moderately dank, quite sweet, although the alcohol keeps a lean body feeling, orange peel in the finish.
Good but without a ooomp.

Cloudy blond colour with generous head. The aroma is moderately dank, with traces of fruity hops. Good body strength, quite sweet, a bit fruity, but missing a ooomp; the alcohol is well hidden; possibly it's a bit oily. Fresh, but I was looking for a 4-pack option and I'm not sure this is the one today.

Interesting experience, but after 4 months this becomes quite oily and the already low bitterness faded awaye leaving behind some sort of fruit juice that shows some lack of balance. There are timid hop resins, orange peel and a light mint touch.

Good body strength, good alcohol management, juicy, a bit dank, but it starts showing less fruit than when fresher.

Murky orange color. The aroma is huge, dank, and a bit tropical. Full bodied, generous sweetness, but not cloying; very good pale malt base, delicate; the hopping is extremely juicy, tropical, with moderate bitterness.
Just wonderful.
