Brewed with new-world hops, this pilsner takes a tropical and aromatic approach to brewing. From the Canadian Shield, or "Bouclier Canadien", this is a Canadian-hopped twist on the pilsner style.

Hops are grassier than expected, hints if citrus, light soapiness. Mouth feel is fuller than expected, carb is soft. Finish is lightly bitter, floral and herbal. Hints of basil and lots of grass. Not bad, could be crisper, feels muddled.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with a large, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves plenty of lace. Grainy aroma of pale malt, grass and a hint of lemon. The flavour is bready pale malt and lemon peel with a dry, hoppy, bitter grass finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Nothing tropical about this beer, but an ok pilsner.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color pilsner with a medium pure white foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet cereal notes with subtle buttery notes is enjoyable. Taste is a mix of clean cereal notes with some residuals sugar. Body si full for style with medium carbonation. Not bad but better than most beers from this series.

Bottle from the LCBO (Central City Across the Nation Collaboration pack). Clear pale gold under a tiny quick fading white head. Nose is crackery malts, light honey and some grass and floral notes. Light sweet front with a light+ bitter grassy middle. Mouth is medium with average carbonation and a lingering lightly bitter finish. 7/3/6/4-/13

Draught at Red Racer Restaurant, Vancouver
Hazy blond color. I like a good Pilsner when I see one, this is not one. Simple yellow beer.

Dull gold, has minimal nose. Low bitterness with a touch of pale malt. Really not a beer worth of Trou de Diable, or even what Central City used to be.

On tap at Central City on Beatty, pours a clear pale copper blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crackery malt and light grass. Flavour is fairly crisp, with crackery malt and light grassy hops. Crisp and clean, but lacking punch and depth. Pleasant but unexciting.
