Complex aroma of brown sugar, oak, red wine, caramel, ripe red fruits, toffee, a touch of alcohol. Flavour is quite sweet with a lot more note of red wine. A bit sticky and cloying. I enjoyed this better than the original Big Worse, a bit less sweet and the wine barrel aging has paid off well.

Lekko metnawe rudawo brazowa barwa. Finisz winny lekko kwaskowy. Wielka klasa barley wine.

Two year old bottle at Kulminator. Moussy, lacing, pale greyish white head, stable, residing over a hazy coppery amber beer with brownish hue, darker than the regular version. Strong and pleasant aroma, oxidized malts but not overpowering the other odours of cranberry, sherry, red wine, wet wood, honey, caramel, vanilla-like tannins, chocolate sauce, marmelade, venison, white pepper. Candied cherry sweetness in onset, figs, light cranberry tartness, soft carbo, honeyish, big caramelly malt sweetness, vinous and oily mouthfeel, drying finish with wood drought and tannins (very strong), warming whisky-like alcohol, soft hop bitterishness deep down, and an unmistakable red wine flavour afterwards. The tart, drying effect of the red wine barrels has brought considerable balance to an otherwise perhaps overly sweet barley wine.

375 mL bottle, in which the label sold me right away. Pours a dark amber color with a swirling fizz head. Caramel, brown sugar, delicous maple like aroma. Flavor is very maple, hints of the wine very late in the palate. Smooth and delicious barleywine. Loved it.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty vinous nose with dried fruit, oak wood, caramel, red wine, rum raisins and a touch of alcohol. Fruity, malty, vinous taste with notes of caramel, red wine, oak wood, tannins, burnt sugar, raisins and a vinous, warming finish with a slightly bitter-sweet finish. A slight red wine tartness comes through after a while. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. A bit boozy, but really tasty with a good wood character. Very nice.

sample @ home, thanks veliempojot!
Aroma is rather oaky with some red wine tones and hints of alcohol. Flavour has red wine, oak, some caramel and toffee-like ’Mikkeller house aroma’. Hides the alcohol relatively well. Not much of the original beer left. Better than I expected still.
