Draft. A dark amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, alcohol, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry finish.

On tap at Borefts BF 2012, Bodegraven. Pours rich ruby with a fine, white foam head. Lots of dried fruits in the nose, subtle leather. Big sweet flavor with dry caramel and leathery fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warming finish with more leathery fruits, dirt, a bit of dirty toffee. OK.

33cl bottle pours with a crystal clear amber body with copper hues and supporting a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up boozy raisins as well as prunes and a sort of yeasty spiciness leaning toward being clove like. It might also be a mix of yeast and booziness. The taste is straight up old school English barleywine with raisins, cherries and prunes mixing booziness that’s short of being robust as well as micro thin layers of sweet caramel here and there that is noticed for very brief moments. Yep, boozy and it gets a little harsh with booze into the finish but I don’t find this outside of the intended style.

Alkoholischer Geruch, würzig alkoholischer Beginn, etwas herb. Dann flacher werdend, spritig, unausgewogen. Zum Ende etwas runder, was aber immer noch nicht den Eindruck eines durchdachten Bieres vermittelt. 8/6/7/7//6

Bottle shared at a Den Haag RB tasting. A cloudy brown pour with a thin white broken head. A rich malty alcoholic aroma. The flavour is bitter, rich malty and the bitterness sits on the palate for ages. A super drinkable beer.

On tap @ Borefts 2012. This is a deep plum-brown one, light cloudy as well and the head is almost non present. On the nose it's light sweet, lot's of caramel and figs. Sticky fruity and quite nice. Really astringent and mouthdrying. Woody dry and raisin sweet. Some alcohol as well. It's just like a barley should be - except from the really mouthdrying taste. Bitter and grassy finish. Not the best barley I've had. 30.09.2012

33cl bottle shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Hazy bright red color, slight beige lacing on top, no real head. Smell malts, some sweetness, some fruityness, slightly alcohol. Taste malts, more bitterness than I would suspect since it’s a barley wine, some alcohol, only just a slight fruity touch. A bit weird, but not bad. Medium body, medium carbonation.
