Draught at the brewery; 5.5% ABV
Black colour. Aroma of bourbon and water-based paint. Lean body, semi-dry, but soft; some cocoa flavour, and cheapish bourbon trace.
Ok beer, kind of pourposeless (to barrel age this kind of beer).

Dark brown. Nothing much in terms of head. I do get some of that artificial chocolate character. Maybe some vague barrel. The body is weird - sticky sugars but kind of thin. To me, doesn’t go very far. Just a dull beer, without much character.

Bottle - Fudgy chocolate and some barrel notes, deep brown with a small beige head. Woody notes, touch of spice and some cocoa.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Brownish black with tan head. Watery bourbon with the slightest hint of chocolate. Very thin body. Disappointing.

650ml bottle from The Gull. Vintage 2017. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon barrel, grass and some chocolate notes. Taste is roasted malt, bourbon barrel, grassy notes. Woody and grassy aftertaste. Nothing interesting, boring stuff. Meh.

On tap at Bomber, pours a near-black with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma brings out the barrel big time, smells like cheap JD. Flavour confirms my predilections, with cheap JD-style bourbon. Not much else left beyond the barrel. At least it's not boozy, but the barrel character is just not very pleasant.
