Taster at brewery. Dark brown, small ring of head. Boozy, woody aroma. Taste brings some solid brown sweetness, a lot of the booze barrels. Almost like a root beeer with a bit of burn, an d not so much sugar.

On tap at the brewery pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is big bourbon barrel notes sweet vanilla coconut and roast malts. Taste is more of the nice sweet vanilla big bourbon booze and roast malts.

Mooch tasting at Matt’s
Brown dirty color. Malty and chocolatey aroma with light tobacco. Good malt and chocolate depth, medium sweetness, with hints of vanilla. I like the alcohol warmth in the final.

Bottle - Cherry and dark malts with a touch of chocolate. Dark cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Woody malts and some caramel and cocoa.

Bottle. Medium brown. No head. The aroma has some band-aid, but not like "oh wow, they used Ardbeg" level, and it kind of dominates everything. On the palate, no band-aid and a lot of stuff comes out. Sweet, brown sugar malts...the scotch isn’t coming through nearly as much as I’d like; I actually get more bourbon from it.

375mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out smoky whiskey barrels upfront, deep dark dried fruits, and toasted bread. Flavour is robust, with lots of scotch whiskey barrels with ample smokiness, followed by dark fruits, and toffee. Medium sweet on the dark fruits on the finish. Not exceedingly deep, but this is very well-constructed. Very good.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. A big soft toffee, coffee and toasted malt nose. The flavor showcases more big scotch, nutty, chocolate, a light hot barrel, vanilla. More spices. This is a really good beer. The base is plenty to deal with the barrel.
