A sour brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Hazy amber with a huge and fluffy off-white head. Sweet caramel flavoour with fruity notes, and a little brett. Dry and tart fruity flavour of plum and cherry. Dark chocolate and spices take over before a quite bitter finish.

75 cL bottle. Pours a hazy to murky with a huge tan head. Steady growing with a clear indication of an infection. Aroma is slight tart citric, chocolate and roasted caramel malt yet also wineous. Citric and wineous fruity flavoured. Vague smoked infection note. Fruity and cacao malty flavoured finish with a mild wooden note. Lingering fruity wineous and malty finish. Nice despite the element of infection.

Shared with Skinnyviking, bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Great lacing head, beige in appearance. Dark amber body. Aroma of tart, dark fruits. Ditto taste with prominent notes of pumpkin and notes of spices like cinnamon. Foamy bubbles in the mouth. Has got its fine moments, but does not quite rises to greater heights (Copenhagen, 17.05.2009).

Bottle Batch #253 on the bottle Pours out a amber topped with a tall foam head. Aroma was of spice, yeast and some malts. Tast was pretty good. More of the spice and plenty of sweetness. One fall back lots of carbonation.

Batch #349. Pours clear amber color with big off white head. The aroma is JP funk and cinnamon. Slightly sour flavor with hints of sweet chocolate and some cinnamon in the aftertaste. Medium body with effervescent carbonation and a dry finish.

Another JP beer filled with excitement that upon opening reveals yet another bretty surprise. In any event, I delved deeper into the meanders of this JP beer. Pours orange / amber with thick beige head. Aroma had some very faint traces of cocoa that was once again hidden by the onslaught of brett covering pretty much everything else that could have been enjoyed. Taste some funk and brett with very light spices mostly of cinnamon as well as cocoa. The overall chocolate mouthfeel became more noticeable as the beer gained room temperature. one could even notice traces of the oak. A good enjoyable beer, but by all means stop covering all the aromas with a flood of brett.

Bottle thanks to Bhops. Batch 253. Pours with a light brown head that fades over a brownish-orange body. Aroma is nice and sour with some orange peel and spices. Taste is sour and fruity with some cinnamon and a bit of bitter finish. Dry and well carbonated.

Scored this gem during the Secret Santa in July 2008. Thanks Saint Nick! 750ml bottle (batch 254) pours a translucent maple brow with a thin white head and plenty of small, tight bubbles. Aroma is very sour, lemony, definitely some serious Brett, Belgian yeast and sticky, tropical fruits. Flavor is nice, very tart, cherries, oranges, a little grapefruit, white grapes. Very strong brettanomyces flavor components including that funky, band aid like flavor. Finish is a little chalky, medium bodied with extra carbonation. I enjoyed this alot, very unique. Reminded me a bit of a sour Flanders red ale. Wish I had more to cellar.

Cloudy brown color. Mild brett and roasted malt aroma. Good, thick palate. Some malt, and lightly sour. This is probably more of a saison or bier de garde than Belgian Strong, the ABV is too low, and there is too much wild yeast. Or maybe a dubbel.

Bottle. Batch 253. Copper beer with a tan head. Cocoa, caramel, cinnamon/spice aroma with light citrus and light tartness. Tart, light citrus flavor with caramel turning to spice, malt, and some light stone fruit. Medium body. Spice, cinnamon and nutmeg linger with malt and tartness.
