This beer is an experiment in contrast and deception. We set out to create a dark ale that pours like a stout, has the aroma of an American IPA, and a taste that’s juicy and sour. It’s a puzzle that leaves you baffled all whilst craving more.

Dark brown. Thin, bubbly head. Tart, hoppy, blackberry, touch of brown sugar. Oh wow, a dark sour I can get behind. Glad I gave this a chance.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is sour and fruity. Taste is pretty the same with bready, kvass and some caramel notes. Quite pleasant.

Draught at the brewery
Dark brown color with beige creamy head. Acidic aroma, fresh, fruity. Dry mouthfeel, not weak. The flavor is dominated by the lactic acid, with a fruity note; in a blind tasting there wouldn’t be mention of dark malts, almost.
Monodimensional lactic Sour, but enjoyable.

Draft - Sour dark plum and raisin. Deep jet brown with a light brown head. Tart and light acidity with prune, plum and raisin. If you like dark fruit this is a nice sour.

On tap at Powell Street, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a dominant seltzery note as with all Powell Street spurs, followed by subtle lacto tartness. Flavour is a bit better, with lacto tartness, medium acidity and dark fruits emboldening the body a bit. Still not convinced by any of PS's sours - this is lacking depth and cohesion as all the others. Not bad, but they need to completely gut and redo their sour base.
