This lightly hopped, straw coloured, effervescent pale ale has a delicate hop aroma and a balanced, slightly sweet finish. Based on the first brew to have been served at Spinnakers Brewpub, June 13, 1984, this beer dates from the beginnings of the renaissance of Craft Brewing in North America.
Admin note: Originally Spinnakers Ale (5%), re-released as a single cask on June 16, 2009, to celebrate 25th Anniversary of craft brewing in Victoria with updated renditions of the original Spinnaker classics, and then released as Spinnakers Original Pale Ale in cans (4.8%).

Clear orange liquid, flat, no head. Soft cinnamon and apple pie filling aroma. Flavour is watery malts with a soft cinnamon spice peeking through. Incredibly watery, flat, no carbonation. This is either from a dead keg or just really, really bad.

Can - Touch of orange and some bread. Cloudy gold and small white head. Dirty yeasty notes with some peel and sourness. Not good.

On tap at Spinnakers, pours a cloudy yellow golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt and not much hop content. Flavour is along the same lines, with wet biscuity malt and only a touch of hops to back. A dry, malty pale. Meh.

Bottle from Central City Liquor Store, Surrey
Hazy deep blond color, with medium sized compact head. Delicate aroma of malt, with a hint of hay. Smooth mouthfeel, with easy malt flavor, a touch of metallic grass and very light biscuity trace; correct bitterness.
Easy beer but pleasant and thirstquenching.

NWA is much better than this. And not only Ice Cube, but the North west ale as well. Another EPA from Spinnakers. This stuff probably appeals to the large population of retired Brits in Victoria. Pours pale lagery with slight lacing. Pretty high carbonation. Some bitterness with no sourness at least. On tap at brewpub.
