This bottle ended up being the first draw in a Barrel Aged beer blind tasting during Opening Day. Beer chosen by Douglas to be entered into this blind. Jet black pour, with a quick fading head. Wonderful aroma of maple, vanilla, brown sugar, and bourbon. Flavor has much of the same, but a creamy chocolate constant to add. Smooth, flavorful. Very nice.

Tasting at Matt’s, gushing bottle
Black color, small head. Aroma of dark malts and tar. Flavor of dark chocolate, roasted malts, some tar, too much liquorice, bourbon, way too boozy.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out big woody oaky notes upfront, with a little vanilla and medium roast. Flavour is quite complex, with notes of oak upfront, followed by vanilla and light-medium roast. Quite warming, with vanilla-y and oaky finish. Very boozy. Not terribly complex or deep, but well-constructed despite the harshness. Nice.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate off white head. Aromas of fudge, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of sweet vanilla, mild but warm bourbon, coconut, nutty dark chocolate, and dry roasted malts. Hot but great stuff. This one can still sit a bit...
