650 ml bottle. Major gusher. Lost a quarter of the bottle. WTF this is a stout! Major points off as obviously a problem or somebody doesn’t know what they are doing. Pours black with huge head that settles to light big bubbles and poor lacing. Aromas of plastic and roasted malts. Flavors of same with a bit of bitter grass and light vegetal notes (oops). If anything at all the whiskey barrel adds a watery alcohol note. Possibly a poor base put in a barrel in the hopes something better would result. Nope. Barrel does not equal better. Perfect the base first...

650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out earthy notes from the rye, along with spiciness and wood, and roasted malt buried. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of wood, earthiness and spiciness from the barrels, and light roasted malt underneath. Nice usage of the barrels, though not overly complex.

Dark brown. Bourbon, chocolate and LOL brett on the nose. Good body, malty sweetness, touch of bourbon. Not bad, they pulled some good character from that regular stout.

Bottle - Dark sweet roast, just. Touch of sourness. Jet black with a nice brown head. Very carbonated which is distracting, dark roast and a touch of booze. Bit of sour notes, which was expected with the gusher.

Tasting at Alex’s. 650ml bottle from the brewery. Pours an opaque almost black with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is slightly fruity, roasted malt, some woody character. Not exiciting as barrel aged beer, just a not bad stout.

The bottle is gushing, this is not a good sign. Black color, the head disappears quickly. Aroma of roasted malts and dark bread; some of the smells recalls the gushing thing. Dry mouthfeel, not weak; strong roasted malt character, some coffee, a bit spicy (the rye), some booze, mild acidity.
Ok beer, obviously an overshot considering the bottling and even the wax, and slightly infected.
