Very roasty, subtle fruit, nice hops. Notes of coffee, and light soy. Silky, very full mouth feel, soft carb and medium bitterness. Slightly boozy, very roasty finish.... True to the style, nice stuff.

Draught at 12 Kings, Vancouver; 8.5% ABV
Black color with creamy brown head. Mild aroma of dark caramel. The malt has enough flavor depth, and contributes to the robust body; caramel, hint of chocolate, mild residual sweetness. In the final there is some unwanted liquorice, it becomes thus a bit cloying.
Robust beer, strong character.

600mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of light cocoa, a little vanilla, and toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with light cocoa and toasted malt. Medium sweetness on the finish. Lighter-bodied, with moderate complexity. Everything is balanced well, but it's not overly deep. Good.

Medium brown. Thin head. The aroma has a fair amount of coffee. Sweet, then some bitter coffee going through, a little nuttiness. Good brew - sweet with light coffee, not super complex and very ale-like, but overall a decent stout.
