Old backlog rating, Victoria/Vancouver may 2006: Apple barnyard aroma, light almond. Golden. Sweet, not overly sugary though. Apple, citrus, barn, blossom. Sticky oily in a good way. Sweet apple kompot aftertaste.

Bottle - Vintage 2006 - Berry and some balsamic notes. Deep copper brown. Dark cooked and carmalized apple with a long sweet cooked Apple finish. Lots of sherry like notes. Nice.

2006 vintage. 200mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany. Aroma brings out notes of balsamic, sherry, some wood, and caramel. Flavour doesn't quite seem like an ice cider, bringing out notes of caramel fudge, some light balsamic, a little sherry and light apple acidity on the finish. Wouldn't normally like the balsamic in this, but it's just subtle enough to be a plus. Excellent stuff.

Corked bottle, 200ml, from Liberty Wine on Granville Island; 40$, easily the most expensive drink so far
vintage 2007, 3 years old

Beautiful dark copper color, still, with long legs on the sides of the glass.
Intense aroma of apples and pears, stewed fruits, light cinnamon; the hint of alcohol adds complexity.
Thick body; very sweet apple and apricot syrup, with notes of caramel and brown sugar, but balanced by a high degree of acidity; seducing alcohol warmth; there are traces of wood that create a very mild astringency on the palate in the finish.
Fantastic.

2016 rating, 2006 vintage. This has a somewhat oxidized aroma, with vaguely syrupy apple. Lots of apple, some good fruit and acidity but it’s also showing a fair bit of oxidation that lends it more of those rounded notes. I probably like it less, but won’t change the score.

Original 2006 rating: Golden, still. The aroma is of lightly spiced apple crisp. Rich, spicy, luxurious flavours...apples and wood and brown sugar, with late alcohol to dry out the finish just slightly. So rich, as it should be. 8-4-8-4-16 = 4.0
