Creamy strong Belgian ale, featuring soft malt tones with balanced noble hops. Mildly fruity with a solid malt base and deep tones of candy sugar.

Cloudy medium gold body and okay foam. Okay soft banana on the nose. Taste is sweet banana, yeasty, ending slightly bitter. Dry finish but still refreshing. Okay.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark gold with moderate head. Aromas of bread crusts, metal and stale grainy malts. Flavors of rye, earthy metallic yeast, dry fruity esters and dull candi sugar. Cardboardy finish. A touch of Belgium, the components are there, but in conflict. Needs some work.

Draft - Almost a light fruity soured wheat and yeasty notes, clear gold with a small white head. Sweet and fruity with some definite rubber notes. Not good.

On tap at the brewery. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is with some not pleasant chemical (phenols?) notes, hoppy. Taste is with the same notes, slightly sweet, hoppy. Flowery hoppy bitterness aftertaste, somewhat similar to original Saison beers. Would be a good beer, but those strange chemical notes... Probably some problems on production line.

Cloudy dull tan. Light phenol, yeasty taste, bubblegum and other phenols inappropriate for this type of beer. Esters are ok, strong phenols and cloying sugars are a sign of too-high fermentation.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out light floral notes, subdued Belgian yeast, and a dry biscuity quality. Flavour is unmistakably Belgian, with lots of Belgian yeast, light fruity esters and finishing pronouncedly floral. Clean and well-balanced, with a dry finish. Quite a nice one.

Draught at the brewery
Cloudy golden color with compact head. A bit smelly, manure, American micro. Good body strength, supported by moderate sweetness; mild malt flavor, check, some character from the yeast, check; I sense that American Belgian yeast, quite estery, but not cloying; correct bitterness. Balanced.
Quite clean, pleasant, robust. A decent first beer, nothing complicated but correctly brewed.
