Anchor Steam Beer - brewed for the first time in 1896 - owes its deep amber color, thick, creamy head, and rich, distinctive flavor to a historic brewing process like none other. It is a process that combines deep respect for craft brewing tradition with many decades of evolution to arrive at a unique approach: a blend of pale and caramel malts, fermentation with lager yeast at warmer ale temperatures in shallow open-air fermenters, and gentle carbonation in our cellars through an all-natural process called kräusening.

Bottle at home from Co-Op, 4th November 18. Pours a copper colour, quite clear. Aroma is caramel, yeast, dime grainy malt. Taste is light caramel, slight bitter, very malty. Not bad.

Közepes, tartós hab, vörösréz szín. Gabonás, enyhén fűszeres illat. Száraz, kissé lágeres alap, gyümölcsös aromákkal. Könnyű, enyhén szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Kellemes ivósör.

There’s not much left to say. This is a classic, and it deserves to be. Pretty sweet and toasty, but also nicely balanced bitter notes.

Bottle, 0.355l. Clear copper pour, one finger frothy off-white head. Low to medium retention, little to no lacing. Caramel dominates the nose, solid herbal background. Thin body, soft carbonation. Regular texture with some thickness to it. Mild bittersweet taste. Aroma follows suit, mostly caramel malts, grainy, herbs and spices in the background. Short finish, mild bitterness. Overall, simple but drinkable. Not bad but not spectacular either. Ok.

355ml bottle at home on 26th December 2017; received as a Christmas gift. Pours deep amber with a lasting whitish foam. Tangy citrus and sweet berry fruits in aroma. Citrus and sweet malts in-mouth, with intense grassiness. A slight metallic note in an otherwise grassy, hoppy finish.
