Every once in awhile a LEGEND comes around and revolutionizes an industry. For craft beer canning that legend is Jamie Gordon! A home-brew shop owner who back in 1999 handbuilt a small manual canner for home brewers. The rest, as they say, is history! Jamie spent 16 years tirelessly devoted to traveling the globe to install, educate, and help every single craft brewery possible benefit from canning their craft beer. Tool Shed is one of those breweries and is honored to have called Jamie our friend! We love that Jamie taught his boys “Stop stealing my beer and learn how to brew it!!” so this stout is for Jamie!

In order to mirror that classy, GQ, flat cap wearin’ style of Jamie, this stout is deeply roasted and rich with a surprising presence of hops and a beautiful, smooth, dry finish. If ever a stout were to rock a flat cap as Jamie did, this would be that beer!

Murkyish chestnut colour. No head. Light toastiness, a fair bit of acidity. Sweet and like hot chocolate powder. Not hitting for me at all.

On tap at Tool Shed, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out earthy, toasted malt upfront, with a touch of dry cocoa. Flavour is a bit briny, with toasted malt and earthy notes. A bit briny and thin. Meh.

355ml can. Pours an opaque black with a large, creamy, long lasting, light brown head that leaves plenty of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and light caramel with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Light to medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Pretty solid, probably their best beer.

Modest head and black body. Very soft roasted barley aroma with a hint of hop sharpness. Flavour is decent coffee with hints of chocolate and a hoppy finish. Pretty good. Sessionable.
