After nearly eight decades of growing world-famous apples in our Okanagan Valley orchards, it was only a matter of time before we set out to craft an authentic hard cider made 100% from a secret blend of our own fresh crushed BC apples. Broken Ladder is a perfect balance of six apple varieties blended to bring out the best of each, providing a superior tasting experience. It’s a dry cider designed to raise the bar and please the palate. Most other ciders are concocted using flavourings, concentrates, sugars and water. By contrast, Broken Ladder is all apples and nothing more, clear and golden straw in colour and uncompromised in character. Broken Ladder is the first cider from the BC Tree Fruits Cider Company. A celebration of the passion and dedication of three generations of over 500 Okanagan Valley growers who for 79 years have nurtured world famous apples in the richest earth on earth. Finally, a cider that is true to the core.

Poured from the tap. Clear pale blonde with no head. Medium sweet, apple skin. Seems it’s become sweeter over the years.

Okay light yellow body, foam gone fast, strong carbonation but it doesn't look too fake. Sweet apple on the nose with some modest bitterness, sugary to be sure but a few dry notes to temper that. Flavour is musty apple, a bit of pepperoni stick (for real), lots of sugar. Lingers on the tongue, aftertaste is lots of sweetness. I'm finding this fake and middling, not the worst BC cider out there but definitely a bottom shelf kind of thing.

Can sampled at BC Tree Fruits, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light sweetness, medium acidity, and crisp apple skins. Flavour is light-medium sweet, with light acidity and apple skins. Finishes sweeter than it starts. Not complex but it's decent.

Draught at Craft Beer Market, Vancouver
Pale color. Light fruity aroma. Not totally dry, the blend of residual sweetness and acidity is pleasant, the apple flavor is too mild, and it ends with an impression of chemicals.
By European standards, it’s quite industrial; by American standards, it’s not bad. Refreshing.
