Draught at the brewery
Hazy dark blond color. Rye and yeast contribute to a very spicy character, strong but interesting; it’s fairly dry, which plays well; the bitterness level is very strong, quite resiny hops, not much fruitiness, and a bit harsh in the final.
Beer with character, less elegance.

On tap at 33 Acres, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out a good mix of Belgian yeast, spicy rye and citrus hops - pretty strong, even abrasive on the nose. Flavour confirms this suspicion, with a rather abrasive earthiness from the rye, spicy hops and a dry crackery malt backbone. Belgian yeast in there creates the spiciness along with the rye. A bit abrasive but reasonably done. Decent.

Golden with a slight haze. Thin head. Has a cantaloupe hop nose with a pear note and vague citrus. Lots of bitterness up front but this gives way to a lot of malt sweetness, too much, and phenols from that Belgian yeast that add nothing positive to the beer. Paint, bubblegum, cantaloupe and the pretense of IPA fades away.

Draft - Nice creamy citrus notes and Belgian estery yeast. Clear gold with a nice white head. Bitter up front with some sweet flowery notes. There is a touch of spice in the finish, but I would never guess rye. Decent.
