Light gold in colour, bursting with citrus and tropical hop flavours and sensationally refreshing. The original UK Citra. In 2009 on his annual hop sourcing visit to the USA, Oakham's Brewing Director John Bryan discovered an exceptional new hop variety - Citra. He rushed it to the UK, ensuring that Oakham Ales were the first UK brewery to brew a beer with 100% Citra hops and maintaining Oakham's reputation for pioneering innovation. ABV: 4.2% in cask, 4.6% in bottle.

Mycket gott.

Half cask at the London Inn. Clear golden pour, skin of head, lacing. Light zesty , hoppy aroma, citrus. Taste begins with the tangy, bitter hops, light fruity flavors. Kind of thin.

Pours clear golden with a thin throthy white head. Aromas of citrus grapefruit and lemon and also a touch herbal. Taste has loads more citrus grapefruit and lemon pith, a hint more herbal and a big grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body, zingy carbonation with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel . Fresh and very hoppy.

26/6/2021. Bottle shared with Dan & ITFCfan at the Euro16 beer share. From Morrisons, Ipswich. Pours clear golden with a small frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, hops, grass, straw. Moderate sweetness, medium citrus bitterness with a tart edge. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Nice bitterness to finish. Good beer this, have had it a number of times and always enjoy it.

This is a cracking citrus-hopped clear and golden pale ale and often my go-to beer when other options don't excite - the aroma is mellow citrus fruit and the bitterness is just right, on top of a solid light malt backbone, with a subtle tartness in the finish

So far I've not been a big fan of Citra hops but I read that this one was iconic so lets try this... Pours light gold, thin head, some retention; ok Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, grain, and only a small hint of the herby cats piss; ok Taste is quite a fresh citrus to be fair, a little zesty, a grapefruit note also keeps it refreshing, a nice level of bitterness in the finish; very good actually. Body is light, carbonation is average. For a session IPA this is ok but it's not standout. Its the best Citra only hoppy beer I have had but in terms of session IPAs there are so many better alternatives out there. This beer is only 11 years old but the brown bottle is next to Timothy Taylors Landlord, its almost traditional already.

Cask at five Lamps, Derby I really don’t know why I’m rating this, as I have a hearty dislike of citra hops. However, my drinking records show I haven’t actually drunk it since 2013 at least, so … Pours a golden yellow with minimal head and good lacing. A strong hoppy nose with oranges also present. In the mouth it is VERY bitter, with overwhelming lemon and grapefruit. The finish is bitter and very dry. However, the worst is yet to come. The finish fades into a hoirrble grapefruit / metallic taste in the back of the mouth, that was difficult to get rid of. Certainly spoilt my appreciation of at least the next two beers. Yuck !!

Bottle, many thanks dantomlinson! Slightly unclear golden color with off-white head. Aroma is citrus hops, grassy, some toffee malts. Taste is bready, citrus hops, nice British Ale flavour, a bit herbal, bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation, and a bit of a mineraly bite. Tasty British Ale with a nice citric twist without becoming too modern - I like!

Bottle from my parents for Christmas. Watered down lemon juice and malts aroma. Light gold. Frothy translucent white head soon thins. The medium bitterness is tempered somewhat the citra sourness. Some spice but also a lot of oldschool UK IPA quinine. Thin. Light. Average carbonation. Long dry very astringent finish. It's OK. I guess I can see why this caused a fuss back in the day but a raw IPA compared to what more modern brewries are producing over here.
