This Smoked Extra Stout Porter was developed on the occasion of the double anniversary of SNAB. Brown Porter, our very first beer, has been a symbol of SNAB for two decades. With Roock we pay homage to this classic style with an XX version, known since 1820 as Extra Stout Porter to indicate the stronger version. By using smoked barley, USA hops and yeast, a distinctive combination was created that gives a complex beer with a distinct smoke flavor.

RBESG 2012 GT. Black. Sweet malty nose, smokey? The taste is... hmmm... glue, nice smokey meaty notes, sweetish and generally lovely. I love my eloquence when it’s this late in the tasting.

37.5 cl bottle (from De Bierkoning) @ home. Very dark color, but not opaque. Big beige rocky head, with some lacing. Aroma’s: smoke (smoked fish), chocolate, some sweetness, some roast. Flavor is medium sweet, chocolatey & smoky. Body is medium, quite high carb. Cocoa in the finish and just a hint of bitterness. Quite nice.

37,5cl bottle thanks to Dutchdrebus at (Dutch) Queens Day Tasting (April 30th 2012). Full dense creamy beige head which leaves good lacing. Very dark brown color. Smell dark malts, smoke, slightly bacon. Taste malts, dark malts, smoke, hint of coffee. Nicely balanced, but a bit weak, a little too easy to drink. Low carbonation, low to medium body.

Bottled from bierkoning. Dark color, medium creamy lasting brown head. Aroma of smoked malt, hint of peat, some bacon, roasted malt, hint of coffee. Quite thick body. Reasonably bitter, bit earthy and grassy bitterness. Ends up a bit dry from the smoke. Nice brew.
