Christmas ale Huyghe took over from Duwac, with kind of camp label. Yellowish white foam, not thick but stable, deep colour of ’old gold’, cloudy yeast. Fruity nose of orange, pear, apricot, caramel, herbal hops, pepper, cinnamon; fresh fruity onset with sweetness (gingerbread, honey, red apple) nicely playing with sourishness (citrus peel), but leading nowhere, since there is no structural finish worth mentioning, though dryer in the end than in the beginning.

Finally got round to opening my 0.75 litre bottle when a mate stayed for the weekend (25 May 2013): poured into two ’Duvel’ glassses. I love sweet beers and this did the trick for me. Pours an orange gold colour with a white staying, but thin head. Sweet nose and taste: like sugar has been poured into the final stages of the brewing process, or added to the bottle (like the old home brewing way) before closing the cap. Spicy notes too, corriander and cloves came to mind along with yeast esters and pie crust. The sweetness however overpowers everything else and I couldn’t keep my eyes from Santa’s crutch, I’m sure it was winking at me!

Srednie w smaku i zlozonosc uboga, finisz wytrawny i lekko alkoholizujacy.

Drunk on Dec. 1, 2012 A bottle from Craft Beer Base, it poured a highly carbonated gold with a light fluffy quickly dissipating head. Very belgian flavor profile with a great fruity nose and a nice mild sourness. The aftertaste was a bit mossy though... You do feel the 8.5% so be careful drinking this one!

33 cl bottle @ Kahdet Kasvot. Rated on 15.01.2010
Aroma is somewhat fruity with apricot, some spices and Belgian yeast. Flavour is slightly sweet and somewhat fruity with caramel, Belgian yeast, some spices and distant floral notes. Quite typical Belgian christmas beer.

330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Aroma of artificial, esteric sweet guck arouses the danger and the reminiscence of headache at once; unpleasant dry, herbal overtones. Taste is sweet, artificial with unpleasant and improper dry herbal overtones. Ugh!
