March 2005: 33 cl bottle (as Kasteel Bier Bruin), at Les Moules Belgian restaurant in Prague. Served too cold. Beautiful deep brown to ruby colour. Large head which disappears rapidly. Aroma of dark malts, oak, old sherry, spices and leather. Flavour is very malty and sweet with a warming mouthfeel, elements of Christmas spices and old sherry. Very good. Yummy!

Bottle 0,75: Dark amber coloured ale with an fruity sweet taste and some liquorlike taste also in the back.

On tap at the Kwak Inn, Riga, on 9:6/2024. Pours a deep dark amber with a medium head. Smells of chocolate snd caramel. In the sip, it’s more chocolate and caramel, along with tart cherry and raspberry jam. Fullish body with a lightly syrupy palate and moderate carbonation. A cracking easy drinking big bobber.

Bottle Pours dark ruby with beige head. Malty and yeast on nose. Tastes sweetish, sticky mouthfeel, bit yeasty. Cherry? Does the job

Trübe dunkelbraune Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Süß malziger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich prägnant malzig, fruchtig nach Karamell und Trockenfrüchten, Kaffee. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

Servida en tulipa. Color marrón oscuro, con destellos rubíes, espuma beige muy esponjosa, compacta y duradera, el aspecto que presenta es excelente. Y si bueno es su aspecto, su aroma es espectacular, sabroso, complejo, rico en matices, notas de malta tostada, levadura, caramelo, frutas de hueso maduras, dátiles, guindas en almíbar, ciruelas pasas, melaza, especias, plátano, pastel phosquitos, frutas de Aragón... En boca es robusta, completa, de entrada marcadamente dulce, inunda el paladar en una explosión de matices que hacen honor a su aroma, profunda, muy licorosa, calienta el pecho y la boca y proporciona calma y regocijo al espíritu. El lado dulce aunque delicioso predomina quizá en exceso en esta cerveza, desde mi punto de vista con un poco más de equilibrio en este punto sería casi un diez, en cualquier caso una cerveza extraordinaria, magnifica, Viva kasteel Donker
