Bourbon Barrel Black Maple was first brewed in 2013 as a one-off batch designed to explore the capabilities of our brewhouse. After its long rest in bourbon barrels, Black Maple quickly became a perennial favorite. Now brewed every year in late summer, Black Maple features a diverse grist of barley, wheat, chocolate malt, caramel malt, and a pinch of smoked malt. Locally harvested maple syrup, added late in the boil, adds earthy complexities to this lavish imperial porter.

Tap@BRUS, Copenhagen - Black pour with beige head. Sweet and light roasted malty aroma and taste, some chocolate and caramel and toffee notes, some sticky sweet maple, bourbon soaked wooden accents into the finish. Lovely.

Black with a small tan head. Toasty malt, very boozy, red wine and maple. Long finish. Full bodied and surprisingly smooth.
Damn it’s a nice balanced beer. One of the big stouts that manages to mix modern random shit like maple and make a still fantastic classic style. Beer Temple ams

Bottle shared at Alex's Birthday. Pours a deep brown to black with a small beige head that dissipates. Molasses, cacao nib, oak and caramel aromas. Balanced on the palate with more dark chocolate, oak and bourbon. The maple is a deeper, molasses or sorghum character rather than the maple pastry bombs of today. Great balanced with a toasted nutty sweet character. Bourbon and chocolate on the finish. Quite good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Black Maple on 22 Feb 2019 at 23:32 - Score: 8
