Medium brown, flat head. Peanut butter nose. Thin, peanuts, a bit tart, maybe a bit disjointed. Meh. Even Four Winds can make a dud...who knew?

Dark brown color. Smells like root beer with cream soda. Tons of aniseed, and sasparilla. Pretty smooth and heavy. Decent.

Draught at the brewery
Dark brown color with small head. Robust Ale, with nice malt flavor, and stronger body than expected. But the aroma has a note that reminds me of some cheap chocolate; hints of dark chocolate and liquorice in the flavor; correct bitterness, and a touch of anise in the final.
Enjoyable.

Draft - Sweet cola notes and some baby powder. Deep jet brown with a light brown head. Cola notes, chocolate and a mellow finish. Very thin and cola like.

On tap at Four Winds, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small off-white head. Aroma smells like pure liquid chocolate. Flavour is similar, with liquid milk and dark chocolate, mixed with subtle Belgian yeast. Light on the palate, dominated mostly by the chocolate. Very nice.

On tap at brewery. Pours a very dark cloudy brown with moderate foamy head. Aromas of sweet chocolatey malts with light spices. Flavors of chocolate, light vanilla, fresh orange zest, light Christmas spices and some fennel. Nice.
