Note - this beer was replaced by a new recipe in late 2025 and re-classed as a stout by the brewery.
Our longest standing recipe is brewed with an emphasis on chocolate malts; this unclassifiable beer straddles milds to porters, tasting of coffee, cocoa and liquorice with a quenching bitter finish.

Bottle from Bernie’s Real Ale Off License, Solihull. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a frothy tan head. The aroma is dry roasted malt. The flavour is strong bitter with bags of liqourice and dark chocolate. The palace is dry spicy and with some pepper in the finish.

Pours a near-black red, with a thin creamy head. Scent is strong chocolate malt. It’s a full-bodied beer, with a deep chocolatey taste and a toasty edge to it and the malt lingers on the tongue. A very hearty beer.

Aroma: Double cream, milky coffee and chocolate ice-cream. Subtle blueberry note, too.
Appearance: Black body with faint ruby highlights. Dense cream head. Light lacing.
Taste: The main flavour is milk chocolate and the supporting flavours are black pepper, ash, butter and cappuccino. Smooth balance and quite sweet.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a luscious, creamy mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.
Overall: A creamy, interesting Porter - I’d probably have this again.

On cask @ the Marble Arch, Pours opaque black with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has dark chocolate with a hint of cream and perhaps going into coffee. The taste has more of the chocolate and coffee and there is a creamy background. The palate is rich and creamy and is fairly elegant though I’d hope it could have refreshed just a little bit more - suspect a second pint would have been too cloying.
