Note - this beer was replaced by a new recipe in late 2025 and re-classed as a stout by the brewery.
Our longest standing recipe is brewed with an emphasis on chocolate malts; this unclassifiable beer straddles milds to porters, tasting of coffee, cocoa and liquorice with a quenching bitter finish.

Opaque black color with a small tan head. Nice chocolate and mild roasted aroma. Medium (light) body and a soft carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Chocolate, coffe and mild roasted flavor. Felt a bit thin at 5,5%.

Cask. Gravity dispense. 57, Thomas Street. Clear, cola brown. A few bubbles of off white head. Dark, fruity chocolate. Light, roast coffee. Taste is fruity dry. Gentle bitterness. Light, fruity tartness on the palate. Stays smooth. Decent body. Finishes light dry, and light bitter. Tasty porter.

Cask at the green Berry deal, Kent. Aroma is rich chocolate liquor, with earthy berry hop and some alcohol. Flavour is nutty choc, slightly rich with touch of coffee and hedgerow hop. Palate is medium full and good cask condition. Tasty beer.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 29/01/14. Extremely dark mahogony brown/light black with a moderate tan cover that dissipates to a swirl and edgework. Nose is earthy cocoa, toffee, dark fruit notes, raisens, light roast. Taste comprises sweeter chocolate than the nose suggested, vanilla, dark fruits, light roast. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Ok stout but I expected more from Marble.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Very very dark with a thick off-white head. This has plenty of nut in its taste with a modicum of chocolate in its aftertaste. Lots of roasted malts in its flavour but not as much in aroma.
