Inspired by insomnia, the Kompaan 39 Bloedbroeder is a blackened imperial stout with an extra bloodtype: ruby port. Blood brothers: the strongest bonds that exist! This beer is brewed with a variety of malts (black and roasted) with little sweet notes, a bitter aftertaste, and at 9.1%, it has a light hoppiness. A beer to sit down with!

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of smoke, coffee and liquorice. Quite sweet flavour, smoke, ash, and caramel. Finish ash, sweet malts, notes reminding of Porto wine. Nice!

Black beer with a sweet coffee aroma. Taste of roasted chocolate malt. Nice, but it’s a bit thin and I don’t taste any port.

Bottled, large sample. Dark color, medium creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, slight spicy. Quite sweet taste, bit bitter, little dry. I dont really get the port wine though. Decent stuff

Black with tiny beige head, leaves some big bubbles. Burnt toast, ash, some apple, light pine, azuki beans, espresso, wood. Light sweetness with big burnt bitterness. Full bodied, slick feel and average carbonation. Pretty good.

Draught @ t Arendsnest. Opaque pitch black color, full sized creamy light brown head that lasts for a long time. Aroma and taste are malts, roasted malts, some coffee, very nicely bitter, dark roasty bitterness, possibly a touch of smoke as well but very subtle. Full body, medium carbonation. Lovely. Very good job guys!

On tap @ Arendsnest. Color is as good as black. Thick, dense beige head with good retention. Aroma’s: smoked malts, drop/licorice, sweet-ish. Retronasal there’s smoked malts, sweet red fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter backbone, with some acidity from the roasted malts.. Medium bodied. Finishes ashy and rather bitter. Excellent!
