Inspired by insomnia, the Kompaan 39 Bloedbroeder is a blackened imperial stout with an extra bloodtype: ruby port. Blood brothers: the strongest bonds that exist! This beer is brewed with a variety of malts (black and roasted) with little sweet notes, a bitter aftertaste, and at 9.1%, it has a light hoppiness. A beer to sit down with!

Bottle with thanks to MrH! Pours opaque black with a large brown head, creamy with nice, nee great, lacing on the glass. Aroma is, well, smoked meat, roast, coffee. Flavor is smoked fish, no smoked salmon to be exact. Uncanny. Ashtray, highly roasted, burned malts. The meatiness fades as the beer breathes, but what remains is burned. I feel sorry for the malts that went into this beer, cause they had the shit cooked out of them. Wow. Light sweet, medium bitter, some acidity. Full body, creamy mouthfeel.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black, beige head. Aroma of hard roasted and burnt malts, tar, black liquorice, charcoal, coffee. Flavour is hard roasted malts, berries, some vinous sweetness, caramel, coffee, tar, firm bitter finish. Medium-bodied. With a bit less carbonation and a bit more body this would be excellent, especially for the current price of under €3,- .

Bottle from my 2nd. Secret Euro Santa box, many thanks. Very dark brown color with medium beige head. Roasted malt, chocolate, cacao bean, raisins. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, smoked ham, licorice, ash., alcohol, wood. Coffee bitter finish. Tasty, full bodied stout.

Bottle @ yespr. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with weak hints of dark fruit. Roasted malty weak woody chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty weak woody chocolate finish with weak hints of dark fruit.

Bottled. A black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and bread, leading to a bitter finish.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is fruity, toasted malty and caramelish. Bitter, dark roasted and almost tarish. Dark hardroasted malty. Smooth fruity and roasted finish.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma peaty roasted malt and alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a raisin fruit smooth alcoholic weak liqourice spicy palate and a long bitter finish. Good but not a great.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Pours near black with a small tan head. Aroma of peat up front, not sure where this is coming from as it’s supposed to be port BA. Aside from the peat there’s expected roasty, chocolate and coffee aspects behind. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, alcohol coming out in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Would like to see a plain good imperial stout from this promising brewery before messing around with port/peat that hasn’t really come together properly.

On tap at the kompaan beer fastival. Decent creamy tan head. Clear black pour. Lovely chocolate aroma. A lovely imperial stout.
