A highly dark beer that is dry and easy to drink in quantity. Distinguished from a stout in that is lacks the heavy coffee-like roasted flavours typical of a stout.

Dark brown, toasty and somewhat nutty aroma. Good body, similar on the palate, lowish bitterness, it's ok.

Smells of good plum and sweet coffee. Has a nice brown-black body with soft white head. Flavour is creamy coffee, soft barley and some sweet chocolate. Full on the mouth. This is a nice sweet porter.

On tap at Tangent Cafe, pours black with a medium beige / tan head. Aroma brings out lovely roasted malt and a bit of cocoa. Flavour is robust, with dry cocoa, roasted malt and a subtle coffee component. Well-balanced and clean.

Draught at Tangent Café, Vancouver, as North American Porter, 5.5% ABV
The color is almost black nit has a good body structure, and it focuses on the chocolate rather than the roastiness (appreciated) with a light liquorice touch.
Nicely constructed.

Draft - Lots of roast and dark chocolate. Jet brow and light brown head. Dark chocolate and syrupy sweetness. A bit too sweet for me, but still decent.
