Draught at Ölrepubliken during "Närkevecka", on February 27, 2013Hazy copper color, tan head. Smoke, peat, campfire taste. Wood, peat, smoke aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sweet, peat, smoke scent.I’d personally probably like it better with the "Gotländsk rökmalt" than the peaty whisky malt.

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 1. Light haze on this amber beer. Big cram coloured head. Smooth dry palate. A little sweet malt. Mild bubblegum ester. Fair bit of TCP and smoke. Finishes dry. Okay.

Bottled at SMÖF. Hazy dark copper brown, small head. Insanely smoky nose. Solid bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Some marzipan, the intensive peaty smoke and salmiak. Like chewing on ash. More experimental than tasty. The first time I don’t really enjoy my first taste of a new Närke beer.

Sample @ SMÖF 2012. Pours tiny hazy amberish golden with a thin goldenish white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace worth mentioning. Smell is tiny sweet, malty and very tiny metallic with peat, dark bread, golden syrup, hay, charred wood, green apples, lemon zest and cereal. Taste is sweet and malty with sweet dark bread, peat, charred wood, smoked meat, soup stock, lemon zest, raisins and hints of cereal, alcohol and pine. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, very tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and tiny sour with sweet dark bread, peat, cereal, hay, prunes. lemon zest and hints of soup stock.

On tap at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours rich ruby with a fine, off-white froth head. Big bready malt nose with definite smoke notes and some yeast. Big sweet flavor with rich smoked malts, light caramel and ham, light dry brown sugar. Medium bodied with average to heavy carbonation. Faintly drying to finish with toasty bread, moderate smoke. I actually like this one a good bit. The smokiness eats into the sweetness nicely.

Draught @ Borefts 12. Clear orange color, small beige head. Smell malts, smoke, tar, a lot of peat and ’fingerpaint’. Taste has malts, smoke, lightly the fingerpaint again, moderately sweet. Medium body, slightly oily and syrupy texture, low to medium body.
