Reddish gold colour, off-white head. Aroma of smoke, sweet smoke, caramel, roast, ash, bread and peat. Sweet malty flavour, smoke, caramel, malts and glaced bbq meat. Finish smoke, peat, slightly medicinal, with yeast notes.
Surprisingly balanced for such a smoke head. Like!

Draft @ Borefts 2012. Amber with a spotty white head. Highly medicinal peat / Islay nose, medicinal, surgical, some caramel in the back. Taste is a lovely blend of sweeter caramel malts and sharp medicinal Islay peat, so a lovely well done clean balance, blend, impressive also seaweed and caramel apples in here, sweet apples, clean, light bitter hops. Light clean, sharp body, bloody well done. Although this uses Mackmyra and not an Islay whiskey, should get to tasting a Macmyra one of these days because the results in beer are damn nice usually.

Clear copper color with shades of red, small beige head. Strong peaty nose, light caramalt in the background. Medium-bodied. Front has caramalt then strong peaty smokeyness finishing some light hoppy and maybe alcoholic notes. Peat lovers treat. After this beer I attended 5 whiskey tasting of Mackmyra at Beer Hunters.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20120831) The beer poured brown and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had peat, smoke, malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, peat, malts, molasses and low bitterness. Aftertaste was peaty and mildly bitter. Probably the peatiest beer I’ve tried. Still tasty and good.

Pours reddish brown with a foamy white head. Aroma of strong peated notes, hints of caramel, some smoked leather. Taste is malty and peaty mixed with spicy tart fruitness, mild roastiness, vanilla, wood and berries. Full bodied, complex taste. Finish is sweetish and fruity with some wooden and peaty notes and light smokiness. Nice, well balanced and tasty smoked/tripel hybrid.
