7800 Saison: noun: 1. the distance as the cuckoo flies between our brewer’s hometown and Powell River; 2. a delicious Belgian style saison
Saison 7800 is a Belgian style of beer that originated in the southern farmlands of Belgium from whence Townsite’s Brewer Engineer Cedric hails. The name itself refers to the distance between his home town of Horrues and Powell River - 7800km as the 'coucou' flies.
This year's brew is also subtitled 'Coucou gamin' which is a traditional Belgian greeting for a new baby and loosely translated means ’Hi little guy!’ We are very excited to let everyone know that Cedric and his wife Chloe (Townsite’s Brewery Manager) will welcome a new family member, Hugo, at the end of September!
Look for it in select private liquor stores on the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver and Vancouver Island and, of course, at the brewery store. But hurry! This is brewed in limited quantities.

Draft - Some banana and bubblegum notes with lots of fruity yeasty notes. Clear gold with al out no head. Tons of sweet bubblegum and some light pepper and bitterness.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy blond color. American Saison, a bit drier than the average, quite spicy, but also with a presence of vegetables.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy pale yellow white head. Aroma is very Belgian-esque, with lots of farmhouse yeast, some fuzzy citrus skins and even a little hops. Flavour reveals notes of farmhouse yeast, banana and clove, with a citrus hop finish. Decently balanced, just not really brewed to style. Not bad, but not great either.

650 ml bottle. Pours a yellow/amber with light head. Aromas of yeast, stoned fruit, light banana, and a little white pepper. Fruity flavors of green bananas, apricots. lemons, and toasted malts. Light bitter finish. Very nice. Refreshing.

Hazy blonde and the big head fell fast, slight yeastiness. A little plasticy. Slightly floral. Lots of pale malts, but they’re quite sticky and don’t have a great character. A bit more hop would balance this out. Improves with a swirl of yeast - more body and a nice orangey note comes out.
