On tap at 33 Acres, pours a dark caramel brown with a small beige head. Nose brings subtle notes of dark dried fruits, some dry cocoa powder and bready notes. Flavour is similar, bringing out toffee, dark fruits and cocoa. Quite a robust profile with a chewy palate. Really well-balanced and bold all the fame. Great stuff.

Chestnut brown, big head. Sweet, toffeeish, rounded malts with subtle bitterness and good earthy character. Soft body, touch of alcohol late. Well done - not Bavarian level but well done.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color with small beige head. The malt and dark caramel have the necessary depth, the residual sweetness is moderate, and it has the nice nutty touch; correct bitterness, from the toasted malts too; light fruity esters complement the flavor. Balanced and clean.
This is a very good example, almost a Doppelbock, it would stand well even in Germany. I just would love now to try a slightly stronger Doppelbock with the same quality.
Excellent.
