33cL capped bottle poured into Leffe glass at restaurant in the old medieval city (La Cite) behind the walls in Carcassonne. Not much selection in this touristy area but I am happy to try some Leffe I have never had... cold be worse. This definitely seems like a competitor beer for Duvel. So, I will just compare it to Duvel. Its a little sweeter, less hop presence, no yeast spice, and not sharp. Despite that, its a decent Belgian Golden strong. Not overly estery, not overly strong alcohol presence. I can see myself drinking this over the typical available beers in similar touristy French town (and way better than the few macro choices in most of Catalan

Clear, deeper golden colored, small off white not very lasting head. Aroma is brewing sugar, caramel, some fruits, peppery, Belgian yeast. Taste is medium+ sweet caramel and candy sugar, bit of fruits, spicey, Leffe yeast, low+ spicey bitterness, bittersweet sticky finish. Medium bodied and carbonation.

On tap @ Café Leffe, Lourdes, France. Clear golden body with a nice off-white head. Aroma is sweetish malt and Belgium yeast with a hint of candy sugar. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, candy sugar, some dry fruit and Belgium yeast, low bitterness and some warming alcohol. Fine body and medium aftertaste. Quite typical Leffe brand, not bad but nothing to wild about either. Solid work within the safer standard.

Deep golden to amber, moderate head. The nose is grainy, corny, vinous with candy. Medium body. Boozy. Grainy sweet taste, candy, some alcohol, minimal bitterness in finish, wine again. Very pleasant.
