This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory—maybe something with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made at an independent brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless seltzer / fizzy yellow beer / whatever-the-hell will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multimillion-dollar ad campaigns make all that junk taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.

We believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny—a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot, stupid & led by the nose social media. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep the people chained in the shackles of poor taste. One glance around and it’s glaringly obvious: they’re winning...as of now. Yet we will not stop. Ever. Since the very beginning, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it…but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance! Hated By Many. Loved By Few.

50cl can from Systembolaget. Berlin version. Pretty sure I have had this before, but seems to not have rated it, so better late than never. Poured mahogany color with a thick off white head. Bready malty, some raisins in aroma. Musty. Hoppy, malty, raisiny flavors. On the sweeter side perhaps, but the bitterness pushes through. Long bready malty finish. Decent. Feels fresh.

Maffig doft som väller in i näsan. Kakao, grape och tall. Rejäl och kraftig maltkropp. Förvånansvärt låg sötma. En massiv humlebeska fullständigt raderar avsaknad av sötma.

18.07.2016/01.11.2016 -- 0.5l can from kaisers in charlottenburg, brewed in berlin, 2.79€. pours a hazy deep amber with a big dense beige head and a nice lacing. aroma of caramel, raisins, plums, some fruity hops. flavour of barleywine, bread/zopf, spices, grapefruit, spruce, dark fruits. quite bitter, sourish, not as sweet as a typical doppelbock or a strong lager. full body, long bitter finish. alcohol is barely noticeable. nice. 09.06.2018 -- a somewhat out-of-date can (16.06.2016-13.03.2017). woody hops and booze on the nose. toasted caramel and wood on the mouth. still nice.

Dark brown color, light beige head with good lasting, nice lacing. Aroma has notes of toasted sugar with some spice hints. Flavor is light bittery, spicy and sugar, good maltiness, some pine. Mild bitterness in the final, light smooth and dense on palate.

Tap at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Lots of body, alcohol, hops, caramel, bitterness, grassy, fruity, dry finish, warmth. Quite good. Not the greatest though.

6 week old stovepipe can A: Pours a clear mahogany tea color with a thick tan head that held very well and left leggy lacing. S: Toasted brown bread with light citrus and pine hops. T: Bitter pine and citrus pith dominate. Wood and biscuit follow with a pithy orange finish. M: Plentiful soft carbonation. Medium full body. Resinous finish. O: I love a bitter hoppy amber ale and this one's no exception. A rare treat though at this strength.
