The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Batch 4 (2006). I was a little scared by this beer at first. I wasn’t sure what to expect with it being 14.6%. Surprisingly even with the alcohol presence, this beer was extremely smooth and had a wonderful sweet flavor to it as it warmed.

Bottled in 2007. The aroma is huge - dark fruits, honey, spice, a few other things which are difficult to characterize. The color is bright orange ruby, and the bubbles are like champagne. The head is non-existent. Medium in body, very mild in carbonation. The flavors are raisin, dates, and definitely other things. It starts pretty sweet, and it ends not dry. Bottom line: Heavy alcohol, lots of sugars, lots of dark flavors; something like super barleywine. Killer.

2007 bottle...pours a very little head, yet with a grayish tan head that dissipates unless you tease and taunt "the beast" in the glass....smells of sweet malt and high alcohol also figs and cloves..... on a vigorous swirl, the beast becomes wild with foam....sweet and thick....strong alcohol flavor with the intermingling of an almost port- like taste.....like a raisin soaked in alcohol, with a fig spritz, quite complex...I’m sure there is a lot I’m not identifying ....but overall its a sipper

2 x 12 oz. bottle shared by KAggie97 (2006) and Zinister (2005) at the "Double Tree Houston" tasting.
2005 - pour is an orangey caramel with a very limited tan head. Aroma is honey, caramel malt and dry fruit (raisin). Taste has the honey, raisins and alcohol, though it is mostly hidden by the caramel sweetness. Good balance rate - 3.7.
2006 - Pour is orange-caramel with a small-medium tan head that lasts for a bit. Sweetness, floral and then a ton of alcohol heat. Not quite ready yet - 3.4.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a large tan head. The aroma was sweet, fruity, caramel and molasses. The flavor was sweet caramel, ripe fruits - cherry mostly, molasses and port wine. Very complex. Wonderfully thick and sweet. The alcohol did show through a noticeable amount. I liked this one. My wife thought it was a total beergasm and wanted to give it a perfect rating.

Rating #666! 22oz bottle, batch 2 - Pours ruby and mostly clear as most of the yeast stuck to the bottom of the bottle. There’s a very thin head. The aroma is of oak, malts, and alcohol. Sweet malt flavors are accented by some dark fruit tones and alcohol warmth. At over 18% abv, one can’t help but feel it even though the three years of aging seems to have toned down the heat a bit as I expected it to be even hotter on the palate. This one is definitely a sipper and it’s a good one. It didn’t taste quite as complex as I expected. While it was enjoyable, I think one of the batches around 15% abv might be a little better.

Bottle. Batch 4. Nut amber with good thick white head. This one has a thousand things to offer. The question is whether you can appreciate it or not. Strong spicy, alcohol + malty aroma. Taste gives the warmest feel I’ve ever tried from a beer. Sweet toffe, caramel, dark fruits (prunes & raisins) & sugar. A punchy amount of bitter hops is present as well. Overall an extreme alcohol & sweety feel. We were 2 guys sharing a little bottle and that was defenetly a wise choice! This 12 fl. oz. bottle costs around 12 US in Denmark!

Clear mahogany, with a lasting tan head - one of those beers that makes you wish that for greater effect you gave most other beers a 1 or a 2 for appearance. Aromas of fruit (dates, pineapple, orange), flowers, leather and port - closer to a British barleywine than anything Belgian I can think of. Very sweet, and thick like honey, with a warming alcohol. Beer for a cold winter!

Bottled in 2006 14.6% ABV; Nose of alcohol, caramel fruits, spices,, and malts; deep copper with a huge long-lasting light tan head; Body very thick and syrupy; flavor ofsweet maple syrup mixed with fruitiness, caramel, spices, and ALCOHOL which lasts to the finish. As it warms the alcohol gets far better covered and it becomes a lot more drinkable or did some of the massive alcohol load just EVAPORATE? 11/24/06 Bomber from Ratman Batch 2 2004 18.1%ABV Nose is raisins, molasses, and a strong alcohol presence that is kind of brandylike. Clear rusty brown with a very small beige head. Flavor is candi sugar, bitterness, alcohol heat, and peppery spiciness. 2/4/12
