A heavy dose of flaked oats gives this classic stout a comfortingly smooth body, with rich malt sweetness balanced by the dry bitterness of roasted barley. Very full bodied with delicious chocolate notes, and a clean, dry finish that makes it incredibly drinkable.

Hand pump at brewery. Bigger head and lacing than the gold. Dark brown more than black. Mineral and wet dark malts, a light fume and no sweetness. Flavor has a nice dark malt sweetness (only in comparison to this type of beer), lots of mineral character. Cask mouthfeel. Decent stuff

On cask at Machine House, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals notes of wet cardboard that all the Machine House beers have had - not really getting any typical stout-y notes. Flavour is more stout-like, but still kind of off, with notes of wet cardboard, light powdery cocoa and a stake quality. Not a very well-designed oatmeal stout. Needs work.
