Our Chocolate Imperial Stout is rich and warming, a perfect complement to cold winter nights. Deep black in colour, it’s brewed with four malt varieties, hops from the Pacific Northwest and organic, fair-trade chocolate from Rogers’ Chocolates.

650 ml bottle. Pours a deep, dark brown with a small, tan head. Light aroma of roasted malt, coffee and cocoa. Sweet flavour of dark chocolate, roasted malt and coffee with a bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Good but not great, as far as imperial stouts go.

Draught at the taproom
Very dark color, almost black, with creamy beige head. Despite the name, it reminds me more of coffee than chocolate; it has the aroma of old times Swiss grocery stores, good body structure, but the roastiness gets a bit too sour and harsh in the final.
Nice beer, not completely in balance or harmony though.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light but retentive tan head. Light aromas of chocolate, nuts, and roasted malts. Smooth chocolately flavors but with an alcohol finish.

Bottle - Bittersweet chocolate, syrupy and a bit of booze. Jet brown with a rich beige head. Roast, bittersweet chocolate and a roasty bitter finish. Not bad.

On tap at Granville Island, pours a deep dark brown with an amber tinge and a small tan head. Aroma brings out cocoa powder and not a whole lot else. Flavour is strong, with notes of cocoa powder, sweetened chocolate and some caramel roastiness. Quite full-bodied with a lightly boozy finish. Thicker than the previous incarnation of their imperial chocolate stout but perhaps not as pleasant. Still, good beer.
