On tap at Storm. Pours murky mahagony with a beige head. Lots of dark berries, earthy yeast, a bit of Worcestershire sauce. Flavour has lots of dark berries, very earthy, Worcestershire sauce. This is really nice.

Poured from the tap (11.9%). Cloudy amber with minimal white head. Lots of raisin, feint acetic acid; overly sweet, light vinegar; I’m late to the game, but I can see how this may have been used for Mammoth Extinction. Maybe time for a new batch of that?

Growler sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Shmupi. Hazy amber. Aroma of balsamic vinegar, caramel, vanilla, alcohol, fruitiness. Sweet and sour flavor, acidic, a bit harsh, a bit of oxidation, a bit acidic in the throat. OK, but too much vinegar.

Okay muddy brown. Notes of red wine, toffee, sour cherry, excellent. Flavour of sour rye, cherry, brings all the notes of flanders way out here to Vancouver. Like I’m in the wheat fields again, breathing in the yeast. Lambic notes. True Belgian sourness. Just wish it didn’t feel watery on the mouth. Otherwise Brilliant. Can’t believe this is a local brew in fact, it’s far and away the finest local beer I’ve tried.

Draft 10 oz pour at the Alibi Room. Listed at 14%. Sours at this altitude are a little on the rare side for me. Headless beast here. Pours the darkest of red colors. Huge alcohol and sour cherry hinted aroma. Cherry was hinted. Definitely not the alcohol. My wife says this has a nail polish remover type to it, and while 99% of the time I would call her crazy for beer notes, I can kind of see her point here. Sour black cherry. Huge pucker. Big time sipper sour. All in all, very fun beer to try.

Draft - Balsamic and malts with a bit of raisin on the nose. Cloudy amber red with a beige head. Tastes much as it smells with a definite soured malt as the backbone. Pretty decent and I would love it even more if the ABV were a bit lower.

On tap at Alibi Room. A pitch black pour with a minuscule filmy beige head. The aroma gives me banana and sour cherry - appetizing. The nose gives me some banana hefeweizen notes then tartness. A sharp mouthfeel with an incredibly tart acidic sour vinegar like taste. This is tasty but sour as hell, not unbalanced but definitely pushing the boundaries of what you expect from a beer. Well done, tart but fruitily appetizing.

Draught @ St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, BC
Pours amber red with a tiny head. Aroma of tart berries, sour yeastiness, wood, oak and vinous notes. Taste is sour, woody and oaky with some tart berries, yeast and vinegary notes. Finish is heavy, sour, woody and sweetish with some tart berries. Quite tasty but very sour and heavy.
