A unique blend of beer and mead. This hybrid was aged for 10 months in oak whiskey barrels. Slightly sweet and a complex aroma and flavour of malts and honey.

Dull, light brown. No head. Smells musty, old. Not picking up much braggot...just more like barley wine. On the palate, though, there’s a nice honey note, and the malts are kind of muddy. The booze is not all that apparent, though.

2017-04-25, 2013, 4 years old,
Strangely it starts developing some sourness, but with the dark malts it produces a pleasant result.
2014-11-10, tasting at Matt’s, 6-4-6-3-13=32
Hazy dark amber to brown color. Mild aroma of caramel with traces of honey. Good body strength, medium body strength, a bit malty, a bit sweet, possible traces of honey but not really evident.
Drinkable beer, a bit boozy, not exceptional.

Bottle - Some mellow cherry and malty notes, lite Apple notes and sweetness. Caramel, light cherry and almost Barleywine like. Light boozy notes but there is some odd fruity sweetness. I would have never have guessed a braggot.

650 ml bottle. 10.2% 8.5 IBU. (It ain’t bitter.) Pours a dark brown/mahogany with very little head. Aromas of caramel, burnt honey, moderate oak, and beeswax. (OK, maybe the later is from the wax seal - which smells very pleasant on it’s own. ) Rich flavors of thick honey, maple syrup, vanilla/oak and roasted malts. Sweet. Very nice. Worth cellaring for a short time. Li’l Red is forgiven.

Cask at Central City Winter Cask Fest '13, pours a hazy dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits, wood and some honey. Flavour of sweet dark fruits, a bit of honey and some metallic notes. Bizarre - certainly not akin to any meads I've had. Perhaps this could use some age as it doesn't taste particularly refined. Decent stuff, but let's see where this is at in a year.
