It’s just a helluva shock. Something that gets the adrenalin pumping like a 400 volt shot in a copper bathtub has to be good for the soul.
Join the hardcore elite, screw down the throttle and ride. Ride until your lungs bleed and your arms numb. Gun the fucker. Don’t pull back, or slow down until the crazy music starts.
Then sit, stunned, wall-eyed, open mouthed, in the realization this mother will drill you with Panzer-like efficiency. And you’ll beg for more.
Malts: Maris Otter, Crystal malt, Caramalt.
Hops: Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe / Dry Hops: Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe.
Note: First batch brewed December 2009, replacing the original Hardcore IPA in 2010.

Pours hazy golden. Aroma is rucola, honey candy, white flowers, lemon zest. Taste is bitter, full-bodied, powerful. Long finish.

Poured from 330mL bottle [batch 172; bb 25-07-14]. Medium orange with off-white head. Sweet citrus and pine hops with some mild sweet malt. Good elements, but I found the sweet and bitter didn’t come together quite as harmoniously as I would’ve hoped for.

Beautiful clear copper color with low off white head. Caramel malt, toffee aroma with a strong grapefruit and some pine hops presence. Taste is moderately sweet caramel malt some toffee and with very bitter grapefruit, pine, bit floral hops. Alcohol presence is noticeable but not aggressive. Quite bitter and lasting aftertaste. Dry, resiny full body.

Killer DIPA! Dark copper body with small wispy head. It gets better from here, nice hoppy, fruity nose, some apples. Taste brings the sting, followed by burn, some fruit juice essence, lots of bold choppiness, slightly dry finish. All around excellent brew.

(330 ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a clear copper with a small fizzy white head and no lace, very active. Aroma resinous, mango, pineapple, a bit overripe, sweet lemon, dank wet vegetation, lots of caramel. Palate quite sweet with lots of caramel and a bit of breadiness to the malt, sweet orange, pineapple, some mango/pit fruit notes. Bitterness sort of creeps in later on, orange and lemon peel, touch of fresh pine and a little resin, drying alcohol too. Still pretty sweet in the finish but dry and astringent, lightly medicinal aftertaste that lingers a long time given the lack of bitterness apparent earlier. Hidden under the malt. Medium bodied with average carb. Mercifully fresh bottle from Systembolaget, very malt-forward for a DIPA and a little sweet for me. Quite bitter but a little too unbalanced, I would prefer less caramel and less bitterness needed to counteract it.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 14C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 425 CAAA. AROMA: intense and fruity hop aroma with a floral and tropical fruit character. some pine notes. sweet malty background. APPEARANCE: ambar color and translucent. average ivory head with medium-low retention. TASTE: floral and slight tropical hop flavour with a sweet malt background. high bitterness that lingers into a semi-sweet finish and persists. good balance. PALATE: medium body without astringency. medium carbonation. alcohol warmth not very perceptible. OVERALL: a good imperial IPA with a tilt towards the malt.
