Our interpretation of this Southern-Belgian farmhouse ale employs a long-grain bill and the addition of freshly-ground black pepper to the Brew Kettle. We use the versatile Ardennes yeast from Belgium, adding notes of bubblegum, banana and cloves to this Saison’s sturdy malt backbone.

Bottle from the lcbo. Hazy orange pour, large off white head. Aroma is peppery, lots of malted wheat, honey and floral hops. Mouth feel is soft, carb is the same. Low bitterness, more peppery flavours, malts get sweet hops fade. Nothing special.

Pours a slightly hazed, golden colour with a frothy off-white cap, fizzing away averagely, leaving not much lace. Aromas are more on the bitter side of things, with the Belgian yeast in the background. Kind of like rye grain, which has some spiciness, with grassy notes and hints of citrus, bananas. The taste is more on the orange flavours side. Pretty mild, with light grassy hops in the finish creating a little dryness. Not a bad beer on its own, but not my kind of Saison.

650ml bottle.(5.5% ABV) Pours a murky dark amber with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet, spicy, fruity aroma of clove, pepper, coriander, banana, bubblegum and Belgian yeast with caramel malt in the background. Sweet, spicy, fruity flavour of caramel malt, grain, pepper, clove, coriander, Belgian yeast, lemon, banana and bubblegum with a dry, mildly bitter grass finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not a true saison, but tasty.

I wouldn't say this beer has the "sturdy" malt background it claims to have. It's actually quite light on the malt, and the bitterness isn't that enticing either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head that lasts. The aroma is yeast, grain, funky. Medium mouth pure sugar, spice, grain, lingering dry finish, ok.

Smells grassy. Pours clear orange copper with decent head. Overall taste of a light saison. It tastes a little watered down. Finishes with some bitterness, has some hops but needs some more fire power. On tap at the Metropole.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear copper with very light head. Aromas of cereal, phenol, and a bit of floral/spice. Flavors of apricot, citrus, bitter resin, and toasted malts. Tart. Quite nice for a sunny afternoon lunch. Original, not a copy of every other Saison being brewed, proving a Saison does not have to taste like something from Dupont.
