So, I buy this beer bottle on a clearance rack thinkin its expired october fest because it says autumn beer on the label. From the start I see its big black large & in charge and a little muddy in my glass. Smell is mild whiskey soaked saddle. Reminds me of well used, gas soaked shovelhead oil. Very rude first impressions. Lots of muddy sediment on the bottom of the bottle, wew. Forget about a fest beer, or even a bock beer, this is fockin hell. Lives up to its name, a monster of a beer. I bet domestic imperial stout lovers will love this concoction. So big so heavy so impressive so over the top. Finish is simply volatile. A big nasty glass of shuttah hell up. Dizzying.

This brew pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, spice and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of raisin, spice, caramel and earthy malt. The finish is chocolate malt and dark fruit. Above average overall.

Deep dark brown body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, coffee, toffee, light herbs and a hint of soy sauce. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with coffee, rich toffee, herbs, coffee, nuts, earth and even some licorice - pungent throughout with a nice complexity. Aftertaste shows some grain and herbal flavours with a lot of coffee, cream and burnt sugar flavour throughout - nice and deep. Overall, a nice beer for the style and one that blurs the lines - great to sample, and well worth having in this season that down this far south is more warm than chilly. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 30-October-2015.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, wheat, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light banana, and herbal spice earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast malts and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wheat, dark bread, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light banana, and herbal spice earthiness. Fair amount of earthy spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light banana, and spice earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced dark wheat ale. All around great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft - Cinnamon, clove and molasses. Jet black with a decent beige head. Lots of spices and vanilla with a medicinal malty base. Too spicy.

Bottle pour to shaker; dark, opaque black/brown like a porter with a slight head. Full-bodied on the palate with a lot going on: coffee/chocolate/malt; dark fruit; nutmeg; brown ale nuttiness. I don’t think I would drink a lot of this, but I enjoyed the one I had.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of spice with a bit of sweet grains and a light nuttiness. Flavor is similar with a heavy spice note that is backed by sweet grains and a light nuttiness.

On tap at the Corner Brewery. Pours a deep, dark brown with a brown head. Nutmeg and cloves on the aroma. Flavor shows nutmeg, roasted malts, clove, and cinnamon. This is a rather nice spiced beer.
