Flesje gedeeld door Tomhendriksen tijdens proeverijtje. Roodbruin bier met weinig/zonder schuim. Aroma is rumachtig.

Erg plat geworden.

Corked bottle. Dark amber color, hazy. oak, white wine (Sauternes? white burgundy?) raspberry notes and marzipan in the aroma. malty sweet flavor with vanilla, oak, marzipan, white wine and orange peels. Good complexity, slightly alcoholic. Great beer!

Mild woody, red fruits and plums. Sweetish hints, not too deep. Wood, round, fruity and malt. Nice but not the best batch due to a bit too less depth. The white wine is (sadly) not there for me.

Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Clear, dark reddish brown with a beige head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, candied cherries and some oak. Very sweet, malty and slightly fruity taste of caramel, candied cherries, plums, vanilla and oak, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, rather warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, but too sweet.

22/XII/15 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers, Hopduvel or the monastery shop @ Tim's Amazing La Trappe Oak Aged Series Batch 2 Through 13 Tasting - BB: n/a, blended: 25/I/2011 (2015-1757)

Note: after hoarding the oldest of these beers for over 5 years, I decided to crack down on them, before they disintegrate.
Clear reddish brown beer, almost no head, some big irregular beige bubbles. Aroma: lots of vanilla, bit oxidized, fruity touch. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: very oxidized, spicy, some cinnamon, little sweet, some nutmeg. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, some chocolate, oxidized, bit dusty, banana, bit sugary.

Bottle from ABS Drinks, Winksele. Hazy red/brown colour, no head. Almost no carbonation. Sweet nose of vanilla and bourbon. Also fruitiness ( red berries) and vinous notes. Well balanced. Bit alcoholic. Nice beer, aged well!

Bottle split at Leightons Cloud base, big thanks to Paulo for this ’R’ job, 05/05/15. Opaque mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is rich fruits, cake mix, spice, wood, sherry notes, dates, plums. Taste comprises rich fruit cake, dates, prunes, figs, wooded notes, spice, more sherrified notes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming alcohol in the close. Decent offering but not top draw.
