Bottle - Sweet honeyed bacon and smoke. Cloudy gold with a frothy white head. Very carbonated smoke and a little sweet bacon. The carbonation and intense flavors with a light finish make it a little different. Refreshing Rauch? Not sure but not bad.

Bottle - hazy gold - not much of a head - nose is a nice showcase for the beechwood smoke - its rich earthiness is not interfered with by abundant hopping or other character - some malt sweetness just serves as a subtle counterpoint to the dry, woody smoke - flavor is not heavy on the smoke, but you wouldn’t want it to be in such a light lager, as it would become to harsh/abrasive - fairly dry, with a light mineral bite that makes the moderate smoke pop a bit more on the palate - finish brings mild honey sweetness to round things out - lovely blonde rauchbier.

Spec’s, Houston 50cl: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is mostly BBQ, smoky malts, and some meat. Taste is pretty much the same. This is a simple, perhaps even one-dimensional rauchbier, but I think it is very well put together for what it is.

Growler shared by beastifan2k, who in turn received it from thickfreakness. Pour is slightly hazed yellow copper - 1/2 inch white head. Aroma of smoked malt, though its not overpowering. Nice balance with clovey vegetable notes (not quite it, but close to that). Decent amount of floral hoppiness is also present. Taste is a nice malty lager with a nice overlay of smoke on top. Mostly a clean lager beer with smoke notes. Palate is clean, thin medium, with a nice grassy finish - super drinkable. I really like this style. This was a nice refreshing beer, thanks for sharing Eugene.

Very pale. Ham-like smoky aroma and I never get meat smells from rauchbier. Very hammy...truly bizarre...but nonethless it’s fairly refreshing for the style.

On tap at the Flying Saucer. Has a cloudy yellow golden with a medium white head. The aroma is a strong bacon and smoke. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is also a strong bacon and sweet ham. A very interesting smoke from Souther Star.
