473ml can. Pours a clear red-brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Sweet, spicy aroma of toasted bready malt, cinnamon, ginger, clove and allspice. Sweet, spicy flavour of toasted caramel malt, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice and faint nuts in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Pretty standard pumpkin beer.

On tap at Parallel 49, pours a murky orangey brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of fresh pumpkin, a fair bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavour brings out a nice mix of cocoa and pumpkin puree, with secondary notes of cinnamon and buried nutmeg. This exceeded my expectations - nice mix of cocoa and pumpkin. Decent.

Cask with Willamette @ Churchill’s. Chestnut colour and thin head, nose is full of pumpkin spices, maybe some pumpkin. Taste is ok... Typical amber sweetness and pumpkin spices. Reasonable, if dated example.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Pumpkin and spice fairly mild, subtle chocolate roast malt. Nice balance, but a tiny bit more flavour would be beneficial.

Soft spiced pumpkin aroma and a nice dark Burgundy body but minimal head. Flavour is soft pumpkin with hints of malt. A little weak on the mouth which seems to be Fernie’s trademark. Adequate but this should be much more spectacular if I would want to seek it out. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ghostrider on 23 Sep 2018 at 06:10 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5.5. Original review text: Bomber bottle found in the GVRD. Pours with a decent load of head, carbonation in small bubbles and a slightly transparent brown body. The aroma is soft spice pumpkin with vegetable, not too sweet and the brown ale is sort of cooperating but not in harmony. Flavour is a lot of brown maltiness with a few pumpkin spice hints on the back end. Medium finish, slightly sweet but not excessively so. I think things just aren't prominent enough here, it's all muddy and muddled. It needs a proper conductor to make a real symphony about what's going on.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark brown color with creamy head. Not too dry, lean mouthfeel, with some caramel flavor and moderately strong spice mix; the aroma is a bit smelly (yeast, stale); the final is drier, a bit roasty.
Your classic boring spiced autumnal beer.

Bottle - The usual pumpkin notes and spices with the hint of molasses. Dark clear brown with a beige head. Pumpkin up front, followed by spices and finishing with chocolate roasted malts. I think the finish really makes this beer, although a bit light on the palate.
