My original rating from way back in the zeroes: Had this one during the brewery tour out of one of the barrels. Beautiful hazy golden color, short head. Aroma and taste of a perfect bohemian pilsener, nicely bitter, complex. Probably the best pilsener i have ever tasted.

Točené ( v hlubokých sklepích Plzeňského Pivovaru): Golden, hazy, very stable creamy whte head, solid bitter-sweet nose of Žatecký hops, combined with a fruity-yeasty background and a solid malty-buttery base; almost perfect and solid bitter-sweet flavour, nearly medium bodied, incredibly soft; lingering and extremely moreish Saazy and buttery and malty finish, some minerals detectable. To je ono…

Cask in the brewery cellar, RBESG2019, two weeks old. Hazy milky golden color with large foam. Aroma is cereals with milk, a hint of funk, grassy hops. Taste is super creamy milk cereal, eggy, light grassy hoppiness in the back. Very creamy and full-bodied, a bit young, but still clean. Extremely smooth. I thought Nefiltrovaný was *the* Czech Pilsner, but I was wrong. This is a different beer.

(6/27/08) From an oak barrel at the brewery in Plzen. Cloudy golden with a big white head. Aroma has a lot of yeast, some oak and very nice grassy hoppiness. Sweet malty flavor with some caramel, some pleasant oakiness and a long bitter hoppy grassy finish with a little spicy hint. Medium-bodied with a rounded silky mouthfeel. Really refreshing and definitely the best Pilsener I’ve ever had. 7/4/8/5/16=4.0

Rerate Yet again I took the tour of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery, yet again I longed for that pilsner from the cellar, yet again I left with a smile on my face, wanting more! On August 1, 2017. Hazy golden color, large lasting off-white head with lacing. Sweet, malty, herbal scent. Herbal, crisp, malty, bitter taste. Herbal, bitter aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. I can drink this all the time and be happy, fantastic it is! The full score goes to the beer from the cellar only, the top notch one. Others are awesome too, but the one you get after the tour is simply to die for. 10/5/10/5/20=5.0

Tap at the brewery, RBESG 2019, brewery tour, graciously led by the master brewer and the master taster. On RBESG 2008, the Croatian crew was, simply put, late for the show and missed the tour. So there I was, in fantastic company, later on at Na Parkánu, trying what was supposed to be the same, and the best lager ever, and being, well, disappointed. I mean, it was better than the regular version and it was nice... but we'd had better. Subsequent tastings confirmed that. 11 years later, we finally got to try the version from the cellars and we can only wonder why the hell this wasn't split away then and there. Oh well. Misty darker golden-orange body, big, thick, creamy white head. Incompetent as we were, we joked that we were pouring ourselves mlíko from the big wooden barrels. The aroma showed a different profile from the tamer classic unfiltered version, creamy, with flowery hoppy notes mixing with eggy touches, yeastiness, a bit dry. Creamy, flowery heaven of a taste, with vague citric touches, light malty undertones, brought together in the end by a distinct, if mild, woody touch and definite barrel-driven mild astringency. Is it the best Czech-style lager I've ever had? Unsure, but definitely one of the best ones, and definitely one of the more unique ones. I love the fact that it exists and that I've tried it. +1 overall for what it is and why it is. If you were somewhat underwhelmed by the regular Nefiltrovaný PU, know that this version is the one the hype is all about and try, at some point, to do a pilgrimage to the cellars. If you're a beer geek, lover, beer whatever, it's pretty much your duty to do that.

Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Bready malt aroma, hops, hint of white wine. Sweet malty flavour, light bitter. Finish hops, lingering light bitterness, light yeast note. Very pleasant. My 5000th rating, a classic. Happy to follow in Michael Jackson's foodsteps. (from draught @ the brewery tour)

Cask in the brewery cellar, RBESG2019. Hazy golden with an off white head. Aroma of grain, malt, yeast, citrus and light fruity hops. Light caramel coming out as it develops. Flavour is light sweet and fairly heavy bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Excellent, it just seems to get better the more you have.

Cask at the brewery. Pours hazy straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast and malt, with touches of hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of malt and yeast. Estery and malty aftertaste with hints of hops. Creamy mouthfeel. A great Pilsener, better than the filtered version.
