Poured from wooden barrel in cellar during brewery tour. Malty aroma and taste with light hoppy and yeasty notes, light caramel, light herbal notes, medium bitter, but higher than regular PU. Medium body, malty bitter finish. The father of all pilsners... Excellent.

# 4111; 3/2024. Malty, yeasty, bready and herbal aroma. Murky gold body; persistent lacing creamy white head. Malty, yesty, herbal, slightly buttery, high drinkability. Excellent bohemian pilsner. 0,3 l, draught, brewery tour, Pilsen (Bohemia, CZ).

On tap from the wood in the brewery cellars during brewery tour, Pilsner Urquell, Pilzen, Saturday 20th January 2024. Pours golden with a white head, there is a some haze, looks gorgeous. The taste is fabulous, absolutely wonderful, fantastic mouthfeel, stunning bitterness, fresh, crisp, amazing, what a Pilsner, lovely lemon edge, the bitterness really runs and runs. Stunning beer.

A deep golden pour that looks slightly hazy and a bit translucent through light. Head looks soft/pillowy, shows good enough retention and very nice lacing. A great aroma that feels both vivid and soft, with a bready, slightly caramelly underlying feel followed by a beautiful grassy, slighlty peppery, delicately lemony/cedary hop profile. There's a light, soft feel underneath that might be associated with diacetyl though i'm not getting actual butter. Tatste notes as per aroma, the maltiness and sweetness are decently deep but there's a very vivid grassy bitterness that feels both assertive (per style) and delicate. Balance is slightly towards bitterness with a clean finish. That background softness can be found in the taste as well, with the slightest buttery note now maybe perceptible. Light to medium bodied, perhaps fuller than you would expect for the abv, with medium, fine bubbled, soft carbonation. Overall very easily drinkable but also quite fuller than a typical pilsner and nicely soft. Wonderful. P.S. I'm wondering if fresh from the wood, unfiltered and unpasteurized is enough to explain the huge difference in terms of richness/depth between this and the standard urquell, or if this is a slightly modified recipe. I lean towards the modified recipe, this one has an assertive bitterness that the commercial one just hasn't.
super fresh,a bit hazy, smooth bitterness, which seems to last forever.quenching to the tongue.can't get any better. Tap@From the brewery's wood tank.

It is easy to become a pilsner fan when you are served a beer like this Pure bliss. I would have chosen this one again and a again Unclear golden in the glass and a fine thick head Good lacing also. Looks really fine and inviting Pleasant malty and some wort in the aroma Balanced fine sweetness and a mellow carbonation level Excellent mouth feeling The flavor is also really lovely and smooth. Pleasant caramel malty, herbal hoppy, some wort, bread and mild citric feeling Yummi [Straight from the wood in the huge basement under the enormous beer factory] Perfect for my rating #13 000

On tap on the brewery tour, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a wonderful spicy saaz hop character, with more earthiness and breadiness than the usual Urquell. Flavour is clean and spicy, with an earthy, oaky character, spicy hops, some grass, and crisp crackery malt. Yeah, this makes the tour worth it. This unfiltered version is really one of the best Czech pilsners out there. Delicious.

From the wooden barrel. Unclear orange golden with a creamy head. Lots of barrel wooden notes, basement notes, grassy hops, citrussy, zesty notes, vanilla, caramel, buttercookies, stone fruit. Dry hoppy bitterness, malty sweetness, light fruity citrussy sourness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry bittersweet finish. Very smooth, rural, complex, not the holy grail though. Still an excellent beer!

Draught @ on the brewery tour. Rated on 4.5.2017 Aroma has grassy hops, mild buttery notes and grain. Flavour has crisp grassy hops, grain, some butter and hints of honey. Rather easy-going and refresing. The best PU I've had, though only marginally better than the non-wood version. Just wondering what is the green garden hose in the brewery cellar and why does it go to the huge wooden keg? 🤔 Wooden keg @ Olutexpo 2013. Rated on 18.10.2013 Aroma has grassy notes, some butter and grain. Flavour has butter, grass and overwhelming grainy tones. Also some herbs and yeasty notes. Still good, but not worth the queueing and hype. Harsh score estimate: 3.3.
