16 oz. can traded by tfontana, thanks for the chance Tom. Aroma and flavor mirror each other. Lots of roast and chocolate-ish hints. Maybe molasses. Good body for the style. Some lingering roast with a dry texture. Easy to drink. Well made.

Can pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. Appearance is opaque black with a few large white floaties, no sparkle, 4-finger width light brown foamy head with decent retention and no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt with both caramel and earthy characteristics. Taste is roasted malt with milder molasses, chocolate, earth. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin, frothy texture, soft carbonation and mellow, crisp finish with mild lingering bitterness. Overall, understated in the mouthfeel and aroma but taste has some complexity and interest. Enjoyable!

On tap at Tapistry, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out earthy malt, bready notes, and motor oil. Flavour is rich and oily, with charcoal, oily notes, and earthy malt. This drinks like ink. Quite repulsive.

Can: Pours black with a huge, thick, dark tan head. Roasty chocolate, light scorched coffee aroma. Taste is dry, dark, chocolate malt, a good amount of ashy/coffee malt bittering. Dry, but creamy feeling. Nicely bodied.....very tasty.

Can. Chocolate malt, ash, and dry hay aroma. Black with large tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter/astringent fresh hay flavor. Okay body.

can - Pours near black with a one finger lingering tan head. It smells of dark roast malt and chocolate. The flavor is roasty with a good balance of malt and hops and chocolate and coffee notes. Smooth, medium to full bodied, robust. Quite good.

16 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, licorice, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, licorice, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, plum, licorice, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast/hop bitterness that increases through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding English porter style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This is very rich and complex for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
